SDG 7 Affordable And Clean Energy

The aim is to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for everyone. Sustainable energy is a critical enabler and dramatically improves the quality, accessibility and reliability of services that humans rely on, for their survival, development and well-being. Considering the need to make the next generation more aware regarding efficient use of energy resources, university is conducting workshops, training programs to support energy-efficient system. Healthcare infrastructure require energy for lighting, operating medical devices and life-saving procedures, heating, cooling and digital connectivity. To achieve these milestones, the University is reducing overall energy consumption through the usage of an energy efficiency plan with solar panels installed at several buildings in campus. About 1,0,874 MW online system and solar are available as energy for usage in the University campus. Prodigious amount of energy is being produced and utilised which is about 28% of the total power consumed in campus. Numerous ventures viz: autoclaved aerated concrete blocks are used in the constructions of buildings that enables in the provision of a healthy indoor environment, 1.5 kw Solar System with 1kW Windmill is installed at Saveetha school of engineering resulted into energy efficient projects. The university is actively organising discussion panels on energy efficient technology development and clean energy in the neighbouring villages in the districts of Tiruvallur and Kanchipuram. In this programme, the panchayat leaders are invited for a consultation and advocated on Utilising Renewable Sources of Energy, Energy Efficient Appliances, Studying Star Ratings and Energy Conservation Techniques. In total, 66 Village Presidents and Vice Presidents and over 50 Village representatives had participated in the mega event.
