Dr. N.M. Veeraiyan, Chancellor
Dr. N.M.Veeraiyan was born on 15-11-1947 at Nalligowandanoor, Erode District and had schooling at Kavandapadi.
He is an alumni of Madras Medical College, one of the premier Institutions of this country.He graduated in Dentistry in 1970. A renowned dental surgeon,Dr.Veeraiyan established a 100 bedded multi-specialty hospital in 1977 and also a School of Nursing for Diploma course , the first of its kind in Erode.
Dr. N.M.Veeraiyan, had the ambition to start a model dental college and started Saveetha Dental College & Hospital in Chennai in 1988 and subsequently College of Nursing in 1992, College of Physiotherapy in 1993 and College of Occupational Therapy in 1998 .The service to the cause of education was extended to other fields by establishment of Saveetha Engineering College in 2001.
He had a vision to impart education on par with international standards by updating the curriculum and reforming examination system and to expose & engage students & faculty in research activities . This led to the creation of a Deemed to be University namely Saveetha University in 2005.Later three more institutions were added to the Saveetha family-Saveetha Medical College, Saveetha School of Management and Saveetha School of Law.
Dr. N.M. Veeraiyan is a FELLOW of international honor of Pierre Fauchard Academy. His proficiency in Tamil language is revealed from the Tamil Book “Vaai Pal Maruthuvam” which was co author by him and got him an award from the Government of Tamil Nadu. Decentralization with active management participation in our institution is best exemplified in SIMATS. The organizational hierarchy incorporated into the University’s framework comprises of the Vice Chancellor and Director heading the university and superintending the Registrar and Dean. The Registrar of the University heads a team with Deputy Registrar and Joint Registrar. The Director and Registrar supervise the Deans of all the institutions. Individual institutions have Associate Deans and two heads for every department (Administrative and Academic). The Associate Deans report to the Director and the Dean regarding their designated affairs and head a team of Assistant Deans . The Heads of each Department are in charge of their team of teaching and non-teaching faculty.
Prof. Dr. S. Suresh Kumar, is a highly distinguished academician and researcher, with a proven track record of excellence in all aspects of his work. He has set his prime focus for Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) and has a vision to make SIMATS - India’s pioneering university in the field academics and research, and to be a ‘beacon’ to the national and international research initiatives. He also aims to promote innovation in socially relevant research and create an environment that fosters research excellence. The primary objective of his mission is to encourage faculty members to explore new frontiers of knowledge and collaborate with research leaders worldwide. Additionally, he seeks to optimize resource utilization to promote a culture of research excellence across the university. His impressive research skills have led to the successful acquisition of over 40 research grants and funding, both nationally and internationally. He has achieved a remarkable feat by breaking the record for filing the maximum number of patents in a single day and week, as recognized by the prestigious India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records. Furthermore, his exceptional leadership skills have been evident in his ability to oversee and manage various administrative matters, ensuring that the institution operates at optimal levels of efficiency. Prior to SIMATS he served as a Pro Vice Chancellor for Research at Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research. With over a decade of experience as a Professor at the esteemed University Putra Malaysia, he has demonstrated exceptional teaching abilities and a passion for academic excellence. He holds a Doctoral degree in Microbiology from the prestigious University of Delhi. His overseas research exposure for the postdoctoral program were at prestigious institutions, including National Central University and National Taiwan University, Taiwan, where he has enhanced his expertise in the fields of yeast genetics, biomaterials and stem cells. To his credentials, he has published over 250+ research articles in high impact peer-reviewed international journals like Progress in Materials Science, Progress in Polymer Science, Trends in Biotechnology, Biomaterials etc. His research has made significant and robust contributions to the scientific community, greatly enhancing the understanding of complex areas of study. Presently, his team is working diligently with a clear futuristic vision to develop stem-cell-based therapy for various human diseases. Dr V .Thiagarajan, has more than 35 years of Academic, Research & Administrative experience. Specialised in Molecular Biology & Biotechnology, under went Post doctoral trainings in these areas in National Institutes and trained in molecular diagnostics at Cornell University, NY.
Has rich experience in University Administration for more than 15 yrs and currently involved in monitoring research & administration with special interest in Dental stem cell and regenerative Medicine at SIMATS.
Has guided more than 25 research projects and has acquired over 3 Crores grants from DBT, DAE and ICAR. He has published over 100 Indexed publications in various reputed journals. He has been involved in the creation of infrastructure, laboratories in the areas of molecular diagnostics and cell culture.

Dr. Ashwani Kumar
Dr. Ashwani Kumar, former Director of ICMR-Vector Control Research Centre (VCRC) in Puducherry, India, and Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University, USA, is an accomplished entomologist with a Ph.D. and a Gold Medalist. Serving as an Executive Committee member of Pondicherry University, he was elected a Fellow of the Punjab Academy of Sciences in 2018. With over 36 years of research experience in Vector Borne diseases, Dr. Kumar has led 200 national and international projects spanning basic, applied, operational, and implementational aspects of VBDs. Notably, he served as the Director-In-Charge of the National Animal Research Facility for Bio-medical Research in Hyderabad, India. Dr. Kumar's international exposure includes training at LSHTM, UK, the German Centre of Biotechnology in Braunshweig, and participation in workshops and courses organized by WHO, IS Global, and Barcelona University. He witnessed vector control operations in California, USA. Having guided 15 Ph.D. scholars, Dr. Kumar has a substantial academic footprint with 174 research articles, 5 granted patents, and 4 books to his credit. His contributions extend to global vector surveillance and control, notably with a handbook for WHO translated into 11 languages. His international roles include advisory positions with WHO on Evidence Review Group and Vector Control Advisory Group, as well as being an International Expert on Vector Control Tools for Malaria Elimination. Currently, he serves as an Advisor to Research Triangle Institute (RTI), USA. Dr. Kumar has received 14 awards, including the Outstanding Young Person of the World in 1998 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for Vector Ecology, USA, in 2022. He played a pivotal role in establishing the International Centre of Excellence for Training in Entomology at ICMR-VCRC and continues to contribute to global research and advisory endeavors.

Prof. Dr. Sheeja Varghese
Prof Dr Sheeja Varghese obtained her BDS and MDS (Periodontics) degrees in 1991 and 1994 respectively from Govt Dental College, Trivandrum. She joined as a senior lecturer at Saveetha Dental College in 1995. She has more than 27 years of teaching experience and is well known amongst the students as a passionate teacher who goes the extra mile to install curiosity amongst the young minds. She has been bestowed with the best teacher award multiple times by prestigious institutions. She is an avid researcher and has been actively guiding multiple PhD , post graduate theses and other research projects. She has more than 100 publications to her credit and has presented multiple presentations both in national and international platforms. She has several patents to her credits. Dr Sheeja Varghese has adorned various positions of eminence at Saveetha Dental College which includes Associate Dean of Students Affairs in 2005 - 2013, Associate Dean of Academics in 2013 , Associate Dean of Clinics in 2017 and Dean of Saveetha Dental College in 2018. During her tenure as Associate Dean of Academics she actively contributed in the development of teaching protocols which include small group teaching, MILA and other academic innovations. Dr. V. Vishnu Priya joined the faculty of Biochemistry at Saveetha Dental College in the year 2001. She has 21 years of academic and research experience. She received PhD in Biochemistry from Saveetha University. Her work was on anticancer efficacy of pericarp extract of Garcinia mangostana on hepatocellular carcinoma. She is a fellow in international medical sciences academy and has undergone training program in regenerative medicine at University of Toronto, Canada. She has received fellowships from Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, Japan and International Federation of Clinical Chemistry, Fortaleza, Brazil for best scientific presentations. She has bagged the prestigious “Saveetha Ratna Award” in 2016, Best Faculty Award in 2018, 2019 and Young Achiever Award in 2012 as well as Prof. Kameswara Roa Award in 2016. She has presented papers in international conferences held at Mauritius, Hong Kong, Brazil and UAE. The Vishnu Priya Lab is interested in cancer biology, herbal medicine and medical education.

Prof. Dr. Sindhu Ramesh
Dr. Sindhu Ramesh joined the institution in 2000 as a Senior lecturer after completing her post-graduation at Saveetha in 1999. She was a tool for the new additional subjects introduced for undergraduate students in 2005 Dental Armamentarium and Aesthetic Dentistry. She also started a course on MSc Biomaterial. Chair of Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics in 2011. She was in charge and was a guiding tool for the new Comprehensive clinic system in 2012, and appointed as the Associate Dean of Clinics, Saveetha Dental College. The comprehensive clinic system started under her supervision and guidance, one of the kinds in India. She instils her students to out rank others and to desire to perform to the best of their abilities. Was the Associate Dean of Research in 2018, during which she received the National “BEST RESEARCHER AWARD” from the Minister of Education, New Delhi. Later that year she was promoted as Dean of Accreditation and Ranking, Saveetha University, SIMATS. She was awarded the “BEST DENTAL EDUCATOR” IAE and British Dental award by World Dental and Oral Health Congress 2020, London. She has several research papers published to her credit. And has done several projects in field of Nanomaterials, Target Drug delivery, Pain management in Endodontics, Lasers and Local Anesthetia. She has 9 patents to her credit.

Dr. Lakshmi Thangavelu has completed her Ph.D. in Medical Pharmacology at Saveetha and has completed her Training programme in Regenerative Medicine, University of Toronto, Canada. She was appointed as Associate Dean of External affairs in 2017 and then appointed as Associate Dean of International affairs in 2018, during her tenure she made remarkable achievements of signing around 100 MoUs including International and National, Industries. She also organised around 156 students for the Student mobility program Inbound and outbound. She has published around 300 papers in peer reviewed indexed international journals indexed in Scopus and has a Cumulative Impact Factor of 60 in Thomson Reuters. She is serving as Peer reviewer in BMC, Nature.Com Journals and associate editor in Journal of Pharmacy education & research indexed in Scopus.

Dr. Kumutha has been pivotal in enhancing newborn care, notably in establishing NICUs statewide. Dr Aravind Kumar graduated with his Bachelor’s and Master’s from Saveetha Dental College in 2000 and 2004 respectively. After graduation he chose to serve at his alma mater and joined as a senior lecturer in 2005. Having obtained his M.Ortho degree from Royal colleges of Surgeons - Edinburgh & Glasgow, he was very instrumental in making Saveetha Dental College as a centre for the M.Ortho exams, Glasgow.
Dr Aravind has more than fifteen years of experience in the field of teaching and is a favourite amongst the students. He has been awarded the best dental educator award from the UK. He is also an active researcher and has been guiding post graduate and postdoctoral thesis. He has more than 100 publications in various indexed journals to his credit.
He is a well renowned speaker in national and international forums and has delivered numerous guest lectures. He was appointed as the HOD in 2016 and under his leadership , the dept of Orthodontics has scaled new heights and stands tall as the best in the country. He took over as the Vice principal in 2019 and contributed immensely for the development of the college. He took over as the Principal, Saveetha Dental College in March 2022.
Prof. Dr. B. Ramesh, Principal
SIMATS Engineering
Dr. Ramesh, received his Bachelor of Engineering from Karnatak University and Master of Engineering (Engineering Mechanics) from IIT Madras. Professor Ramesh received his doctoral degree from IIT, Roorkee. He has a total experience of 19 years in teaching, research and industry in various capacities and is being instrumental in driving the institute to deliver quality-packed education to the students. A few awards he has won are National Doctorate Fellowship for Ph.D., and the best lecturer award from SMIT.
He is responsible / member for Academic Council, Board of Research, Educational Technical Unit and IRB (Institute Review Board). To his credit, he has 16 peer-reviewed journals published in National and International Journals. His areas of interest include sedimentation studies, structural dynamics and mechanics of structures. He teaches subjects like Structural Engineering, Design of Reinforced Concrete and Structural Analysis to all undergraduate and postgraduate students. This exuberant knowledge makes him a stalwart. B (Hons) from School of Indian Legal Thought, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala she did her LL.M. from School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology with a specialization in Criminal Law, Constitutional law and Jurisprudence. She cleared the National Eligibility Test for Lectureship (NET) conducted by UGC in 2001.She did her doctoral studies at the JJT University, Rajasthan in Health Care Law titled ‘Legal and ethical issues on medical research involving human beings in India’.
She has taught law at the School of Legal Studies, Kannur University, School of Legal Studies of Cochin University of Science and Technology, School of Indian Legal Thought, M.G University, Parvin Gandhi College of Law, SVKM, Mumbai, School of law Rights and Constitutional Governance, TISS, Mumbai, School of Legal Studies Central University of Kerala and in SNGCLS Kollam before Joining Saveetha School of Law.

Dr. Prasanna Sivanandam, distinguished Professor and Dean of Saveetha School of Management has 2 decades of experience in academics and corporate sector. She was the HRD Head of a business school at Chennai and has also propped up the obligations of a faculty. She is the Vice Chairman of SICCI HR Forum. She possess Ph. D in Psychology from University of Madras and MBA from Indira Gandhi University. She retain an extensive range of expertise ranging from academician to corporate trainer.
She has organised several workshops on Stress Management, Time Management, Assertiveness and Parenting for employees connected with Blue Chip Companies like Cognizant Technologies, Wipro, Ford, etc. She has a long association with Britannia Industries as Guest Consultant. Professor Dr. N. Jothilakshmy is a dedicated and accomplished researcher specializing in urban design. She is deeply committed to nurturing research skills among aspiring architects, drawing from her extensive experience in architectural research. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree from the College of Engineering Trivandrum in 1991. Subsequently, she pursued a Master's degree in Town and Country Planning from Anna University in 2000. Her doctoral research, conducted at the School of Architecture & Planning at Anna University, focused on the topic of "Evaluation of Form-Based Codes and the Image of Chennai, Tamil Nadu."
She has made significant contributions to her field, presenting and publishing over 60 papers in various national and international conferences, journals, and book chapters, including publications indexed in Scopus.
In 2020, Dr. Jothilakshmy was appointed as the Senior Architect Consultant by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) under the AMRUTH Project. Her role involves contributing to the Local Area Plan (LAP) development for George Town, Chennai, including the formulation of Form-Based Codes and the Town Planning Scheme (TPS) for Madambakkom, Chennai.
She coordinated and achieved Guinness Records for the longest painting in 2002 and the largest eggshell art mural in 2016. Her contributions also extended to creating the Limca Book of Records for the longest maze with recycled materials in 2013 and the largest backdrop with recycled bottle caps in 2015.

Dr. Ramaiyan Velmurugan holds a Ph.D. and M. Pharma with 17 years in academia and 5 years in research, Dr. Velmurugan specializes in Pharmacokinetics, Drug Metabolism, and Nano Drug Delivery. His educational journey includes a B. Pharmacy from The Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University in 2002, M. Pharmacy (Pharmacology) from Annamalai University in 2006, and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Annamalai University in 2014.
Dr. Velmurugan's significant achievements include being the Principal Investigator on a UGC-funded project on nanostructured lipid carriers for oral anticancer drug delivery. He has been granted patents for various compositions and methods related to drug delivery and therapeutic potential. His notable publications cover diverse topics, such as the synthesis of Quinoline-2-Carboxylic acid aryl ester and its apoptotic action on PC3 prostate cancer cell line. He has authored books and book chapters, including one on Paclitaxel and Spirulina nanoparticles for cancer therapy. Dr. Velmurugan has guided numerous Ph.D. and PG theses, demonstrating a commitment to mentorship. Oreopoulous award from Indian Society of Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis, Best Oral Paper Award from Indian Society of Nephrology, Travel Grant Award for best research abstract on international category from Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy, Medal of honour for teaching and research from National Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development, Chennai, Cash award and certificate of merit for publication in a meritorious journal from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research .

Mr. V. Valveemaraja is a born athlete with sports genes, a Gold Medalist diver in Madras University competition and an All India Inter – University Kabaddi medalist. As a disciplined sergent in NCC holding ‘C” Certificate was leading the parades in college and was the captain of Tamilnadu volleyball team for NCC Inter – Directorate tournament.
He, a proud alumnus of YMCA college, Chennai (1981 - 83) and National Institute of Sports, Bangalore (1984) was a productive officer of Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu as General Manager (I/c) and Senior Manager (Retd). He has three and a half decades of experience in sports administration in many districts and modern stadia like Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor and Outdoor Stadium and International Aquatic complex, Chennai. He won six vocational excellence awards and was a pioneer and a role model to sports officers of Tamilnadu in implementing Government sports schemes.
He holds the credit of constructing many Outdoor and Indoor stadia, swimming pools and sports complexes in various Districts. His honest and sensitive rapport with sports philanthropists made a valuable contribution to sports of Tamilnadu. His Decisions, Innovating thinking and strategic plannings generated sports income. His presence of mind, boldness and keen vigilance made him stalwart. His rear combination of rich expertise may serve the greater purposes of SIMATS.

Prof. Dr. J. Thirubhuvan is a highly esteemed senior academician in Hospitality, Travel, and Tourism education, known for his expertise in research, commissions, consultancy, councils, and task forces. A pioneer in hospitality education, he is a first-batch alumnus of BHM from M.S Ramaiah College of Hotel Management, Bangalore, and holds MTM and MBA degrees. With a Ph.D. in Tourism Management from the University of Madras, he is a groundbreaking scholar in his field. With 25 years of experience in teaching, research, curriculum preparation, and participation in various councils and commissions.
Prof. Dr. J. Thirubhuvan has served in diverse capacities, including for the Ministry of Education in Ethiopia and Libya. He has contributed significantly to UNDP education projects at prestigious universities like Addis Ababa University and Omar-Muktar University. His expertise extends to education programs such as JICA, Swedish, German, and Indo-Ethio V-sat programs. As a Fellow Program in Education (FPE) from Addis Ababa University, he played a key role in Sikkim-Manipal University's V-sat programs, delivering over 500 sessions and authoring seven books. Prof. Dr. J. Thirubhuvan has published numerous journals, led plenary sessions at conferences, supervised over 1000 U.G and P.G theses, 11 M.Phil, and 9 Ph.D. scholars.
His advisory role in projects for Samcomm Technologies reflects his commitment to advancements in education technology. He actively contributes as a member of the Board of Studies for hospitality education in several universities globally and serves as a founding member and advisor for health care solutions and welfare projects. Prof. Dr. J. Thirubhuvan has conducted community-based skilled hospitality programs, served as a consultant for Orange County Events, and received multiple 'Best Teacher Awards' in recognition of his outstanding contributions.
