Physical and Academic Support Facilities Maintenance
Saveetha Institute of Medical and technical sciences (SIMATS) always maintain the highest and best possible ways in training the students in this competitive world. It has in-house state of art analytical instruments under one roof. The sophisticated equipment is periodically calibrated and maintained. The laboratory instruments in the University are maintained under the AMC and CMC plans from various vendors.
The college has a centralized complaint system in ARMS where the students and staff raise any issue related to infra-structure and equipment. The complaints are allotted to the concerned biomedical or electrical or plumbing department who has to rectify the complaint with a stipulated time frame. If there is any delay in completion, the issue is discussed in the monthly review meeting and appropriate measures are implemented.
The equipment is periodically serviced and maintained by the in house biomedical engineering department. The medical and dental hospital instruments are taken care of with priority care since they deal with emergency services in day to day hospitals. Calibration and recalibration after major breakdown are carried out by an external agency. Saveetha Dental College is also one of the regional adverse event monitoring centers under materiovigilance programme of India. Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
The cases reports are maintained in the digital format in the cloud storage, the servers are periodically maintained under the AMC program. The smart board and projectors in all the colleges are included in the AMC schedule. The library is taken care of by the research department, purchase of new books and journals are purchased based on request from the concerned department.
The college has an adequate number of computers with internet connections provided in all the departments. Centralized IT facilities and manpower is provided in the campus. All the required software is distributed in all the locales like office, laboratories, library, departments etc. ICT smart classrooms and all those computer related facilities are maintained by the technically skilled experts. The whole campus is monitored by CCTV surveillance to prevent any untoward events.
The sports facilities and library are maintained periodically by the concerned team who are full time staff in the campus. The whole campus has adequate transformers installed and for power back up with DG Unit has been installed. The maintenance of the generator is regularly done by AMC. The electrical and plumbing related maintenance is done by the maintenance department on a regular basis by the skilled persons. Fire and safety equipment are provided in every floor based on the adequate floor ratio and they are refilled on a regular basis.
Major instruments are periodically monitored for performance and if there is any damage which requires spare parts to be changed. The maintenance team requests the quotation for spare parts with different vendors and then forward to the purchase department as per centralized purchase procedure. Then inspect the work done by the contractor and ensure smooth functioning of equipment and report of completion of work is given to the Principal.
